Ex-Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak was taken back to Cairo's Tora Prison on Monday evening after Prosecutor-General Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud ordered that the ailing former president could no longer stay at a military hospital.

Hosni Mubarak, the former president of Egypt who is facing a life sentence in prison, is reportedly in worsening health and will likely be transferred to a hospital within hours if his condition deteriorates.

State news agency MENA reported that Mubarak’s "heart stopped and he was treated with a defibrillator.”

Mubarak is 84 years old -- his health plunged after the court’s verdict, also suffering from acute depression since his transfer, high blood pressure and shortness of breath.
