Megan Crafton, An assistant cheerleading coach at an Indianapolis high school, has been arrested for allegedly performing sexual acts on a 17-year-old male student.

Megan Crafton, an assistant cheerleading coach at an Indianapolis high school, has been arrested for allegedly performing sexual acts on a 17-year-old male student.

According to a local Fox News Network affiliate, Crafton, 22, allegedly engaged in sexual acts with a Shelbyville High School student inside her vehicle at a supermarket parking lot.

"We wouldn't be having this conversation if it was her and some other gentleman who doesn't go to the school, or isn't part of the school system, but unfortunately in this case, it was and it made it illegal," Michael Turner, a lieutenant at the Shelbyville Police Department, told Fox59.com

While Crafton was considered to be someone of authority as a school employee, lieutenant Turner went on to suggest that "when she signed on as an assistant cheerleading coach, she took a responsibility that she wouldn't have relations at that school."

High school officials learned about the alleged relationship, which occurred in January of 2012, through circulating rumors, according to authorities. Concrete evidence lead to a warrant and the ensuing arrest of Crafton for child seduction, a D felony, the report said.

Crafton, who reportedly lists herself as engaged on her Facebook page, turned herself in on Thursday and pleaded not guilty in a court appearance.

The police department credits school officials for taking allegations of the inappropriate relationship seriously, according to Fox News.
