Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

The Brazilian's days at the Giuseppe Meazza look to be numbered after the Serie A club confirmed the signing of Slovenian shot-stopper Samir Handanovic from Udinese earlier this month. The Nerazzurri are understood to be keen to remove the 28 year old from the wage bill and Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas could now make a bid for Cesar, according to the Metro.

Brad Friedel was the first choice goalkeeper for Tottenham last season but the veteran American turned 41 this summer and hence the club are interested in another stopper. Cesar's compatriot, Heurelho Gomes, is also expected to leave White Hart Lane this summer. Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that Cesar has already been offered to Spurs after Inter told the Brazil international that he would no longer be No 1 at the club. France and Lyon keeper Hugo Lloris was believed to be the preferred choice for Villas-Boas but Les Gones have put a €20mn (£16mn) price tag on him. Cesar presents a cheaper but interesting option, with five Serie A titles and a Champions League crown to his name.

Meanwhile, Cesar has stated that he is willing to remain at Inter and fight for his place, amidst strong competition from Handanovic and Luca Castellazzi.

"I have a contract until 2014. I will stay and play for my position. Inter have a great squad. Handanovic is a good goalkeeper. This would be the best for us as we would have three great goalkeepers," ESPN quoted Cesar as saying.

Spurs Take Australian Keeper on Trial

Tottenham have offered 20 year old Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan a week's trial. The Central Coast Mariners stopper, who was voted the A-League's top keeper last season, has been invited to train with Spurs at their new training facility.

"It is a magnificent opportunity and experience for Mathew to have a look at a top Premier League club. Tottenham move into their new training facility on the first of August so it will be a great experience for him. It is reflective of Mathew's standing in the game. He deservedly won a number of awards last season and has already been picked as Mark Schwarzer's understudy for the Socceroos," Goal.com quoted Mariners chairman Peter Turnbull.
