Kofi Annan has resigned as the U.N.'s special envoy to Syria.

U.N. envoy Kofi Annan has asked for a vote on Syrian resolution to be delayed in the wake of intense fighting in the capital Damascus, Al-Jazeera has reported.

Britain's U.N. Mission tweeted that it will considering Annan's request. Major Western nations have already draft a resolution that vows to implement nonmilitary sanctions against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
