The copper market has started out this morning with moderate gains, despite weakness in other metals markets and adverse currency market action. However, international equity markets are generally higher and optimism from the US payroll report has helped to lift Asian and European equities at the start of the new trading week. It is also possible that copper is finding some support from suggestions from the Chinese central bank that they would endeavor to fine tune their monetary policy during the second half of 2012, in an effort to stimulate growth in the Chinese economy. LME copper stocks increased by 1,225 tons overnight, and now stand at 245,950 tons.
