Usain Bolt, the legendary Jamaican, proved beyond doubt that he is the greatest sprinter by winning the second successive 100 and 200 meters sprint doubles in Olympics history.

The 25-year-old Bolt, aptly nicknamed "lightning Bolt," holds world records for 100 and 200 meters and won three gold medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Bolt defended his sprint doubles title in the 2012 London Olympics, silencing critics who claimed that his era was over after twin defeats to Yohan Blake in the Jamaica trials.

Bolt, regarded as the fastest man in the world, is also known for his antics, outspoken and bold statements and a cool attitude that has raised many an eyebrow.

The Jamaican sprint wonder says what he thinks and does what he says. Bolt's way with words and his high jinks after sprinting to victory made him a newsperson's delight. Bolt believes in celebrating in style, and his mind runs as fast as he does on the field.

Bolt's attitude and the way he declared himself as "the legend and the greatest of all the time" have hit headlines. He photographed his winning moments and asked the media to report his story of fame on his terms and follow him on Twitter. He gave the best "quotes" and "sound bytes."

Here are some of his quotes after winning the sprint doubles that made media headlines.

"It's what I came here to do. I'm now a legend, I'm the greatest athlete to live," said Bolt, as reported by AFP.

"I did what I wanted. I've got nothing left to prove. I've showed the world I'm the best, and, right now, I just want to enjoy myself," said Bolt, as reported by the PTI.

But at the same time, when questioned about the achievement of the U.S. decathlete Ashton Eaton, who won the gold in a grueling two-day event, Bolt was generous and candid enough to give Eaton the tag of "best athlete in the world."

"I'm a great athlete, but to do 10 events, especially the 1,500m, I have got to give it to him," he told to AFP.

On Carl Lewis' concerns over the effectiveness of drug testing mechanism in Jamaica: "For me, Jesse Owens I have a lot of respect for. He's a great athlete. He has done great things for his country. He has really pushed athletes to their best.

"I'm going to say something controversial right now. Carl Lewis, I've no respect for him. The things [Lewis] says about the track athletes, it's really downgrading for another athlete to be saying something like that about other athletes.

"I think he is just looking for attention really, because nobody really talks much about him. It was really sad for me when I heard the other day what he was saying; it was upsetting. So, for me, I've lost all respect for him, all respect," said Bolt, as reported by Reuters.

He was also as forthcoming as ever about what he was going to do next.

"Now, I am going to sit back, relax and think about what's next. But I am not ready to retire. I love this sport. The rest of the season I am just going to have fun, because I did what I came here to do," he said, according to a PA report.
