Vanessa Bryant filed for divorce from her husband Kobe Bryant in Dec. 2011. Papers have not been signed to make the split final, according to TMZ, as the couple is attempting to resolve their differences.

Nicki Jhabvala of Sports on Earth is reporting that Vanessa recently did an interview with New York Magazine. The interview has yet to be released, but Jhabvala says that Vanessa indicates that her husband's success on the basketball court could affect their marriage.

"I certainly would not want to be married to somebody that can't win championships," Bryant said. "If you're sacrificing time away from my family and myself for the benefit of winning championships, then winning a championship should happen every single year."

Kobe Bryant has won five NBA titles during his career, taking home his last ring in 2010. A year after the Lakers were swept in the second round of the playoffs, Vanessa decided to call it quits, though she did not say that played a role in her decision.

Los Angeles is one of the favorites win the championship in 2013. They traded for both Dwight Howard and Steve Nash this summer.

The couple's relationship has been under the spotlight for many years. The shooting guard was accused of sexual assault in 2003. While the case was eventually dropped, the L.A. star was forced to admit that he cheated on his wife.

The couple met in 1999 and got hitched in 2001. They have two children together.
