Arsenal ended goal drought to beat Liverpool on Sunday night with the newly signed Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla scoring a goal apiece insuring the team's first win in the ongoing Barclays Premier League.

The win came after Arsenal's boring 0-0 draws against Sunderland and Stoke City in the first two Premier League games, drawing speculation if Dutch striker Robin van Persie, who moved to Manchester United this summer, has left a vacuum in the team.

Podolski put the team ahead by scoring before halftime and Cazorla of Spain sealed the victory by scoring in the second half with only 20 minutes left to play.

The game started as though they would not find the net but Arsenal capitalized on counter-attack with Podolski making good use of it by sending Cazorla's pass into Pepe Reina's net.

Liverpool enjoyed good ball possession but their strikers failed to score. They are now in the fourth position from the bottom in the Premier League table after two losses and a draw while Arsenal have jumped to seventh position following the win.

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger said after the win on Sunday that his team is getting better and is happy with their performance.

"The sharpness gets better from game to game but overall we looked solid and scored two goals," Reuters quoted Wenger as saying. "We missed opportunities on the counter-attack at the start of the game but we had a convincing team performance."

Arsenal will now meet Southampton on Saturday.
