The Seattle Seahawks beat the Green Bay Packers in one of the most controversial calls in NFL history. Seattle came away with a 14-12 victory on Monday Night Football as Russell Wilson hit Golden Tate for the game-winning touchdown, with no time remaining on the clock.
The Hail Mary from Wilson to Tat was ruled a complete, even thugh instant replay showed otherwise. Packers defender M.D. Jennings seemingly intercepted the ball, though Tate was ruled to have simultaneous possession. The play was reviewed after the referees couldn’t initially come to an agreement, and the ruling of a touchdown stood.
The game-changing call, once again, put the spotlight on the replacement referees. The officials have been criticized for their incompetence each week, and it all culminated with the final play of Week 3.
Many people are now calling for Roger Goodell to end the referee lockout, so that no more games are decided on missed calls. The two sides are supposedly very far apart on getting a deal done.
