Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping to boost his squad by signing two England internationals during the January transfer window as he attempts to bring Theo Walcott and Daniel Sturridge to the club.

It was revealed last week by Rodgers that he would have funds to spend when the transfer window opens and it seems he has his eye on two attacking players who would help Liverpool improve their record in front of goal.

The Reds have just one fit senior striker in Luis Suarez, who demonstrated his wastefulness in front of goal against Reading on Saturday, and have struggled to find the back of the net in the Premier League this season.

While there have been suggestions that Andy Carroll could be recalled from his loan deal in the New Year, it now seems as though Rodgers will attempt to bring some new faces to Anfield.

The Daily Mail has reported that Chelsea would be prepared to allow Sturridge to leave but only if they receive an offer in the region of £15million.

Sturridge has never been in favour with Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo and has been forced to watch from the sidelines on numerous occasions since the Italian took charge last season.

The striker did come off the bench at the weekend to score against Tottenham, but the Mail believes he is unhappy with life at Chelsea and could end up looking for a new club in January.

Liverpool were heavily linked with a bid for Sturridge during the summer, but there was no official offer as Rodgers suffered a frustrating few months before the start of the season.

Theo Walcott

Walcott is another forward who has voiced his displeasure at not being handed the chance to play in his preferred position as a central striker at Arsenal.

The former Southampton forward refused to sign a new deal over the summer and is now in the final 12 months of his contract with Arsenal.

The Mail believes that an offer of £10million would see Arsenal offload Walcott as they do not want to risk losing him on a free at the end of the season.

Walcott is another player who was linked with Liverpool in the summer but much will depend on whether he is willing to leave Arsenal for a side who is not in the Champions League.

Liverpool will certainly be looking to improve their squad after missing out on top target Clint Dempsey and failing to land a direct replacement for Carroll.
