A Greek brothel owner has offered to fund a cash-strapped school in the city of in Patra, in the Peloponnese, having already sponsored a football team.
Soula Alevridou, 67, pledged €3000 (£2400) to the elementary school after an open invitation for sponsorship was launched by the school's parents association.
According to Peloponnesian media, the grandmother's funds would be used to purchase a photocopier and a library for the school.
Alevridou recently agreed to sponsor amateur football club Voukefalas Larissa. The stuggling football team were paid €1000 by Alevridou to wear the names of her brothel the House of History.
A second brothel, Villa Erotica, also agreed to sponsor the Larissa team.
The club's president Yiannis Batziolas said: "Unfortunately, amateur football has been abandoned by practically everyone.
"This year, because of the more general financial crisis, that has affected us greatly. We were forced to seek any type of financial support for the club so that we could survive."
"If we don't help our scientists and athletes, where will we be?" asked the brothel keeper. "Greece has educated people, cultured people and good athletes. It's better to help them than take our money to Switzerland."
"Here is where it all begins, with amateur sport. It's where the talent is bred.
Alevridou added: "I am a Greek woman, and I love my country."
