Just a week after being booted of the X Factor, Rylan Clark has landed himself a new presenting gig on Daybreak.

The flamboyant Essex-born singer will fill in for Richard Arnold for a week, while the entertainment presenter recovers from his stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

Clark, who courted controversy during his time on the talent show after bickering with judge Gary and being accused of having poor vocals, expressed his delight at being given the opportunity to show off his presenting skills.

"I can't believe it," he said. "I only left X Factor a week ago and now I'm joining Lorraine and Aled on the Daybreak sofa."

"I'm a massive fan of the show and it's going to be so much fun sharing all the showbiz news and gossip with the nation each morning."

He continued: "I'm looking forward to keeping Richard's seat warm while he's swanning off on holiday, but I won't be asking for any dancing tips just yet."

Arnold, who was booted of Strictly last month  joked:  "The wonderful thing about this hurly burly business we call show is that you know ultimately you will one day be replaced by someone younger, thinner and, in this case, much taller than you. I wish Rylan all the best in his new role at Daybreak."

Clark will make his presenting debut on 3 December at 7.50am. His new job wills see him reporting from parties and shows and updating viewers on the will latest celebrity gossip.
