Liverpool are hoping to complete a deal for Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland as manager Brendan Rodgers attempts to bring at least three new faces to Anfield during the January transfer window.
Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge and Blackpool winger Tom Ince are both close to agreeing moves to Liverpool and it now seems as though a third English player could also be heading to Anfield.

The Metro believes that Butland has entered into negotiations with Liverpool and is ready to sign a contract, with just a fee needing to be discussed with Birmingham.
Butland rose to prominence over the summer when he was selected to be part of the England squad that travelled to the Euro's after Norwich keeper John Ruddy was forced to miss the tournament because of an injury.
The 19-year-old made his England debut against Italy earlier this year and has since become the first choice keeper at Birmingham, having spent all of last season on-loan at League Two side Cheltenham.

Butland would be seen as competition for current Reds number one Pepe Reina who has endured a mixed campaign and has struggled to replicate the superb form of recent seasons.
Rodgers hopes that a deal for Butland can be concluded early in January, while talks over the signing of Ince and Sturridge are currently at an advanced stage and could also happen early in the New Year.
The Metro believes that Liverpool will spend around £12million on Sturridge, while Blackpool want more than the initial £4m that has been offered for Ince, who is said to be determined to return to his former club.
However, Liverpool are confident that all three deals can be completed by January 1 as Rodgers is desperate to add some strength to a squad that has underperformed for much of the season.
