Inter Milan midfielder Philippe Coutinho wants to remain at the Serie A club after welcoming interest from Liverpool.

Reports had suggested The Reds were on the verge of agreeing an £8m move for the Brazilian international as their second addition in the January transfer window after Daniel Sturridge joined from Chelsea.

But the 20 year old has rejected claims he could complete to Liverpool, praising the faith Inter have shown in him during another break-through season at the San Siro.

Coutinho has made 10 appearances for Inter this season.

"The Liverpool offer? I'm happy with these offers, because it means I am doing my job well," he told Sky Italia.

"But I think Inter have faith in me and I want to show my value here. I don't feel that I'm on my way out. I hope to stay at Inter.

"The young players feel the faith of the coach and of the club: me, Juan Jesus, Benassi, Bessa and the others."

Coutinho spent last season on loan at Espanyol, scoring five goals in 14 starts leading to his promotion in the Inter first-team, with 10 domestic appearances coming this season.

He joined Inter from Vasco da Gama in the summer of 2010, making 13 and five appearances in his opening two seasons before a loan move to La Liga last season.

Having cancelled the year-long loan deal of Nuri Sahin, and with the injury problems that have often befallen Lucas Leiva, Brendan Rodgers appeared keen to add to his midfield options with another injection of youth.

Joe Allen joined in the summer from Swansea City but has struggled to transfer his passing game from the south-Welsh club, while Steven Gerrard has been an ever-present in the Liverpool midfield.

During the reign of Damien Comolli as director of football, the club brought in swathes of young players to bolster their academy with Jordon Ibe, Seyi Ojo, Danny Ward, Suso and Joao Carlos Teixeira having all joined in previous years.

Samed Yesil and Oussama Assaidi are among those young players to have joined since the appointment of Rodgers in the summer, with both making sporadic appearances in the Liverpool first-team this season.
