John Aldridge believes that Daniel Sturridge has been the perfect medicine to fix Liverpool's goalscoring problems, with the striker linking up with Luis Suarez to make a huge impact at Merseyside.
Sturridge has now scored in three consecutive matches for the Reds since his move to the club, with the England international finding the back of the net within seven minutes of walking onto the pitch in a Liverpool shirt for the first time.
He's now scored more goals for Liverpool in three weeks than he did in the half a season he spent at Chelsea, and Aldridge believes that his partnership with Suarez is just what the side need to challenge for a top four spot.
"The pair have a natural understanding already, and what's even more ominous for Premier League defenders is that the partnership is only going to get better," he told the Liverpool Echo.
"Daniel has really good feet - he gets the ball out of his feet very well - but what's even more impressive is his awareness."
Aldridge believes that Sturridge has shown talent for Liverpool that can't be taught, with the 23 year old already making a huge difference in the big matches.
"He knows what's going on around him and that's a quality which is difficult to coach into a player - you've either got it or you haven't," he explained.
"I'm convinced that if Daniel had been fully match fit and sharp when we played Manchester United we would have come away from Old Trafford with at least a draw.
"For a partnership to work together like Suarez and Sturridge did on Saturday - in what was their first start in the same team - was remarkable."
Liverpool worked quickly to land Sturridge at the beginning of the month, with the club looking to make a statement after a disappointing summer transfer window.
And Rodgers has hinted that more signings may take place before the January window comes to a close, with results looking to have become more promising in the new year, as the club boast three wins across the FA Cup and Premier League.
