Manchester United have made their first signing of the January transfer window after it was announced that they had completed a deal for Crystal palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
The England international is one of the hottest properties in the Championship and has long been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park, with the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool all at one time linked with the winger.
However, it is Manchester United who have tied up a deal for the attacking midfielder who has already agreed personal terms and the transfer is expected to be concluded early next week.
Zaha will be immediately loaned back to Crystal Palace for the remainder of the season as Ian Holloway looks to lead the side to promotion to the Premier League.
"I feel this a great deal for the club and the player. We would like to thank Wilf for all he has done for the club and we all wish him well when he joins Manchester United in the summer," said Palace co-chairman Steve Parish.
"It was essential to Wilf and ourselves that he stayed at Palace for the remainder of this season to help the club with its main aim of promotion to the Premier League."
The 20-year-old has also revealed how pleased he is to join the Premier League leaders, whilst also thanking Palace for allowing him to take the next step in his career.
"I am delighted to be joining Manchester United and ending the recent speculation. I would like to thank the owners at Palace for making the move possible, however my focus for the next five months will be solely at Crystal Palace," Zaha told the club's official website.
"I have been at Palace for more than 10 years, I will always love the club and I want to help get them get back to the Premier League, particularly for the fans who have always been so good to me."
There has been no official announcement on the fee that will be paid to Palace by Manchester United but it is believed to be in the region of £15million.
