Novak Djokovic has beaten Andy Murray in the final of the Australian Open by three sets to one.

Murray got off to a good start after winning the first set, but the Serb battled back to claim his third successive victory in the competition.

Murray struggled to cope with the pace and power of his opponent, who seemed to grow stronger as the match went on.

The Scot was looking to claim his second Grand Slam victory in a row, but needed treatment for blisters on his hand after the second set and was beaten by  6-7 (2-7) 7-6 (7-3) 6-3, 6-2.

The title is 25-year-old Djokovic's sixth Grand Slam triumph and reinforces his status as the world's current number one male tennis player.
