Loaded magazine's latest issue, featuring a glamour model posing in a priest's robe, has angered Catholics.
Lucy Pinder is photographed in a provocative pose alongside the headline, "For God's Sake!" and the tagline "For men who should know Benedict".
Beneath the near-topless 29-year-old's dishevelled cassock, she wears black stockings and suspenders.
One unnamed critic said: "God bless you, brainless head young lady. That's how low this life has become. Let's have some respect for God. You can make fun of humanity but never God."
The Catholic League in the US slammed the mag for spoofing Pope Benedict XVI.
"Lucy Pinder shouldn't have any problem turning men's heads, so it is all the more gratuitous to see her wearing a priest's stole, stitched with crosses, nicely covering her plus-sized chest," Bill Donohue told TMZ.
He added: "If Lucy has any guts, perhaps next time she'll carefully drape herself in some Islamic garb during Ramadan. And then run for the hills."
A Loaded magazine spokesman told The Sun: "It wasn't aimed with the intention of upsetting the Catholic Church or the Vatican.
"However if they do want to consider Lucy Pinder for thepPapal vacancy we will put it to her.
"The shoot is meant to be fun and very tongue-in-cheek."
The 85-year-old leader, who became the first pope to resign in 600 years, insisted he was leaving because of old age and fading strength.
