Arsenal are preparing a shock move for Chelsea stopper Peter Cech in the summer, with the 30-year-old among the six names shortlisted to replace Wojciech Szczesny in the Gunners line-up. Arsene Wenger had dropped the 22-year-old to the bench in Arsenal's last two games against Bayern Munich and Swansea City, after a series of lacklustre performances and is looking for a new goalkeeper in the summer to provide competition to the Pole.

The Daily Mail believes the highly rated Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid, is set to make a return to the English shores next season as Chelsea's main man. This may allow Arsenal to entice the Czech Republic international to transfer to the other side of London for regular first team football.

However, given the rivalry between the two sides, the chance that Chelsea will be willing to sell their most consistent performer to Arsenal is considerably bleak. The Gunners have therefore prepared a list of six players, with the other five stoppers reportedly being Pepe Reina, Asmir Begovic, Victor Valdes, Rene Adler and Michel Vorm. Valdes is reportedly willing to make a move to north London with Wenger also looking to call up on Arsenal legend Thierry Henry to smoothen the transfer between the two sides.

Szczesny's future at the club as Arsenal's number two is now under question with the player reportedly contemplating an exit. Thomas Vermaelen is another player who had recently fallen out of favour with Wenger and is linked with a move to Barcelona, who have been a known admirer of the Belgian.

Jenkinson on Monreal

Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson has revealed that he is a huge fan Arsenal's latest first team entrant Nacho Monreal. The January deadline day transfer from Malaga scored his first goal for the Gunners against Swansea at the weekend to give Arsenal the lead, which was doubled by Gervinho in injury time.

"I'm a big fan [of Monreal] to be fair. It was really important he got our first goal. We needed that. Then it was about keeping it tight at the back and Gerv went and got the second one. It turned out fantastically in the end. It's a huge win. We were buzzing in the changing room because this is a hard place to come to and get a win. I'm delighted and so are the boys, and so we should be. We've come here and won 2-0," he said.
