Fernando Torres insists he does not feel threatened by the potential arrival of Radamel Falcao at Chelsea.

The Blues continue to be linked with big money move for the Atletico Madrid forward after another unconvincing season from Torres, but the Spaniard claims the arrival of an established European star at Stamford Bridge would please him.

"Since I came we have only signed top players, so it would not be a surprise if we signed Falcao," Torres said, ESPN report.

"When you play for Chelsea, you're always hoping big players come and the big names are always being linked with the club. You cannot stop that. Every player is welcome at Chelsea, every top player."

There have been many suggestions that the arrival of a recognised forward in the vein of Colombian international Falcao could bring an end to Torres' time at Stamford Bridge, with a swap deal involving the Spaniard returning to Atletico widely reported.

But Torres insists his desire to succeed at the southwest London club remains as strong as ever.

"For me, I know I want to stay. If they change their minds it's a different question, but the relationship between me and the club is very straight. It's not a problem at all."

Torres is likely to lead the line in Chelsea's Europa League semi-final clash with FC Basel on Thursday evening, a competition in which he has scored on four occasions. While his tally for the season in all competitions has hit a respectable 20, the forward admits his performances still do not match the level of expectation that accompanied his arrival in 2011.

"I have still not been at the level I want to be," Torres added. "Hopefully the Chelsea fans have not seen the best of me at the club. I hope there's more to come. I really think this club has told me the truth. They have hopes for me and they trust me."

Chelsea are just two matches away from the Europa League final in Amsterdam next month, and will aim to succeed where both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have failed in recent years - to beat Basel at the St. Jakob Park.

Rafa Benitez's side were boosted by the news that defensive pairing Gary Cahill and Ashley Cole have travelled with the squad and are in contention for starting places.
