The appetite for technology and social media in the Middle East has created a burgeoning area for entrepreneurs and start-ups.

Former Facebook executive Prince Fahad al-Saud told IBTimes UK said that the technology sector in the Middle East, and Saudi Arabia in particular, were not only catering for increased demand but was also proving to be one of the fastest growing sectors in the region.

Fahad, who is Stanford graduate in engineering, joined Facebook as analyst and head of user operations Arabic in 2008. He is also a frequent Nato lecturer on Middle East social media and privacy issues and is a consultant for the Saudi government on cybertechnology within the Gulf kingdom.
