Kylie Minogue will be a coach on The Voice UK next year.

Kylie Minogue has been unveiled as the new coach on The Voice UK.

The Australian pop superstar will replace Jessie J for the third series of the talent show.

She joins the panel alongside returning mentors Sir Tom Jones and Will.i.am.

Mark Linsey, the BBC's controller of entertainment commissioning, said the Spinning Around hitmaker would make "a fantastic addition" to the show.

"She is a true pop icon and her longevity in the industry is testament to her creative and musical ability," he said.

Minogue, whose hits include Can't Get You Out Of My Head, said: "I'm very excited to become a coach on The Voice UK.

"I love the concept of the show and have been an avid viewer of both series."

She added: "The search for new talent is such an important aspect of the music industry and The Voice UK gives us all a part to play in that.

"Will I be competitive? Probably more than even I imagine! Watch this space!"

In July, Jessie J left the show to concentrate on promoting her second album around the world. Danny O'Donoghue also pulled out after the series ended.

"I've absolutely loved my time on The Voice and I hope everyone saw and knows how passionately I felt about the show," Jessie told her fans on Twitter.

"However, I can't wait to promote my new record around the world and that has to take priority. I shall be keeping a very close eye on series 3 showing my support in every way I can and really hope that in some way that I can be part of the show."

Series three of The Voice is scheduled to start in January 2014.
