Kate Middleton and Prince William took their son Prince George to meet Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, for the first time.

According to The Mirror, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and George flew to Balmoral Castle where the Queen and Prince Philip have been residing since late July. The 92-year-old royal could out meet the new born, who was born on 22 July, as he had been in hospital recovering from abdominal surgery.

"This was an incredible moment for Philip," an insider said, "He has been desperate to meet his great grandson and having the family together is really special for him."

Kate Middleton made a dazzling first official appearance since the birth of George, as she attended the Tusk Conservation Awards on 12 September, wearing a sequinned Jenny Packham gown.

"This has been a very busy time for the Duke and Duchess," the source added, "They have always been determined to introduce George to Philip as soon as possible, but there just hasn't been the time until now. This will be a very special holiday for them all."

Meanwhile, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla are also known to be staying in nearby Birkhall, their manor house on the royal estate. Report suggests that the family is keen to take a rare four generation family photo, featuring Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George.

"Everyone has been waiting for this photo to be taken and of course the Duke of Edinburgh has been looking forward to seeing his great grandson. It's wonderful that the family have finally got together to spend some time with the new arrival," the insider added.
