Undercover agents will be mingling with Russian fans at the Etihad stadium during the Champion's League clash between Manchester City and CSKA Moscow tonight (Tuesday).

Officials with Russian-language skills will be listening out for incidents of racism in the stands.

It follows accusations by Manchester City that Yaya Toure was racially abused by CSKA supporters during the match in Mosow in October.

A visibly upset Toure claimed that monkey chants were directed at him from sections of home fans.

Chf Insp Gareth Parkin, the match commander, explained why covert agents would be out in force for the rematch. He said: "In the UK it is a zero-tolerance policy towards racism for every match.

"We have translators who will liaise with police from Russia and visiting fans in the city before the game.

"They will come to the stadium and if they hear any racist abuse the match officials does not we can communicate a message via the fourth official."

The measures by the authorities came as CSKA accepted punishment for the abuse of Toure. Parts of the stadium will be closed off to home fans for the upcoming visit of Bayern Munich.

Toure condemned racism and called on ruling body Uefa to take tough action. He suggested that black players could refuse to take part in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Toure said: "I hope Uefa will take action about that because we have to stop it. It's always the same. If Uefa don't take some action we will always have it.

"I don't know what I have to say because a couple of months ago one of my friends who plays for Milan had the same problem and Uefa continued with the same blah-blah-blah."
