Adam Levine, lead singer of American pop rock band Maroon 5, is reportedly set to be named the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine.

According to Gossip Cop, the 34-year-old The Voice coach will be crowned with the magazine's prestigious title on 20 November.

During an interview with Savannah Guthrie on the NBC Today show, Levine refused to confirm or deny the reports.

"I don't believe you," he told the host, adding: "It would be an interesting idea ... I know nothing."

On a personal front, in July, Levine got engaged to Victoria's Secret model girlfriend Behati Prinsloo, after a year of dating.

"Adam Levine and his girlfriend Behati Prinsloo are excited to announce they are engaged to be married," Levine's representative told People magazine then.

"The couple recently reunited and Adam proposed this weekend in Los Angeles."

Levine had previously told Oprah Winfrey he would like to settle down eventually.

"I'm a fan of marriage. People think that I keep pooh-poohing marriage, but I love it," he said during an interview on Oprah's Next Chapter.

"I want to probably be married at some point. I don't feel pressure to get married. I think that when it's time, it's going to be obvious and I'm going to do it and I'm going to really enjoy it."

If Levine is chosen, he will join a long list of A-list actors who have received the Sexiest Man Alive honour, including Channing Tatum, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, and Bradley Cooper.
