Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has challenged Luis Suarez to eclipse the feats of the club's most revered number seven in Kenny Dalglish at Anfield.

The Uruguayan international's stunning four goal haul against Norwich City on Wednesday evening saw his manager and club captain Steven Gerrard place him alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the best players on the planet.

After his sensational performance, the 26-year-old confirmed that he has no plans to leave the club during the January transfer window, and his manager has urged him to give the best years of his career to Liverpool in order to join - or even displace - Dalglish as the club's greatest player of all time.

"There's no doubt that this club has been blessed with a number seven like Kenny, the greatest player this club has had," Rodgers told a press conference ahead of the visit of West Ham United this weekend, ESPN report.

"I think if Luis Suarez stays here for his career, he is certainly going to challenge that, there is no question about that.

"If he is going to be here a long time, he has a great chance of establishing himself as one of the greats of this football club."

After a tumultuous summer where he appeared to be on the brink of leaving the club, Suarez has been electrifying form this season, scoring 13 goals in his 10 appearances following his return from suspension.

The former Ajax striker once again appears to be content with life on Merseyside, and his manager is growing increasingly confident Suarez will remain at Anfield for a long time yet.

"It is just a feel, just an inkling of where he is at in his life," Rodger added. "Through my regular conversations with him, he seems happy. I don't think there is a clearer benchmark than on the field.

"His behaviour, his mannerisms, his maturity and his performance level tells me he is very happy here at Liverpool and in the Premier League. He is playing remarkably well, consistently well, and that's what gives me confidence."
