Google has just rolled out its most eagerly-awaited bug-fix update, Android 4.4.1 KOT49E, to fix all known glitches in the original KitKat release for all Nexus devices along with the addition of camera improvements for the Nexus 5. This is a key maintenance update which is being rolled out in phases for Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (2013), following its release for Nexus 5.

The Android 4.4.1 KOT49E KitKat is now available for download to Nexus 4 users as an Over-The-Air (OTA) update. However, those who missed the OTA update notification for some reason can install the same manually, using this guide.

Those already running on Android 4.4 KRT16S firmware can install this OTA update. This tutorial has three sections: the first is for non-rooted Nexus 4, the second for rooted Nexus 4 smartphones and the third for rooting Nexus 4 on the newly installed Android 4.4.1 KOT49E KitKat update.
