Overview

Defending champions Pakistan have had a disappointing time in Malaysia so far, having won just one out of the three games played and find themselves in the fourth place on the points table. The Men in Green come into this clash on the back of a 3-2 loss to arch-rivals India on Sunday (23 October).

An India vs Pakistan game is always big and for the first 35 minutes it was the 2013 winners who were on top. At one stage they were leading 2-1 only to concede two goals to give away the game to the opposition.

The absence of key defender and regular captain Mohammad Irfan has been a big blow to the team with the replacements not able to organise the defence. This clash is a must-win game for Pakistan, as a loss here would make it difficult for them to qualify for the semi-final.

Japan come into this match after a third straight loss, thrashed by hosts Malaysia 7-2. The Samurai Blue defence is in tatters, conceding 19 goals while scoring only five.
