Usain Bolt and other athletes like Sally Pearson of Australia will return to the scene of their Olympic gold medal wins on Friday (July 26) as the Olympic stadium hosts a Diamond League meeting nearly one year after the Olympic opening ceremony.

Athletes trained in the stadium on Thursday (July 25) in preparation for the two days of competition.

Half of the park recently reopened for concerts and events, and now the stadium is hosting a top athletics meeting. The other half of the former Olympic park will reopen next year.

Jessica Ennis-Hill confirmed she will be taking part in the Sainsbury's Anniversary Games

The Olympic heptathlon champion only made her comeback from a troublesome Achilles tendon injury on Tuesday, but has had no adverse reaction to her return to competition.

She wrote on her official Twitter account: "My Achilles has responded well these past couple of days … So Olympic Stadium here I come.

"Not the best preparation but I will give it my best shot."
