Australia humiliated the visitors in the Ashes series by performing a 5-0 whitewash. Michael Clarke's side continued their winning form against England as they comfortably beat Alastair Cook's men in the first ODI last Sunday.

Cook won the toss and elected that his team will bat first in hope that they will post a total difficult for Australia to chase.

However, Clint McKay gave no chance to the rival skipper dismissing him in the very first over for just four runs. The right-handed bowler struck again in the seventh over to dismiss Joe Root (3).

Eoin Morgan (50) and Gary Ballance (79) completed their half-centuries as England posted a total of 269 runs losing seven wickets before they ran out of over's.

Australia thwarted all of the visiting bowler's attempts to prevent the chase as Aaron Finch (121) and David Warner (65) put up a 163 run partnership for the first wicket. Clarke scored 43 before being dismissed off Tim Bresnan's delivery.

George Bailey (17) and Maxwell (8) remained unbeaten to help the hosts chase the remaining runs. Australia scored 270 within 46 over's losing four wickets.

Cook will be hoping to put the Ashes and the first ODI disappointment behind him and inspire his team to bounce back in the second match in the 50-over format.
