Overview

Australia will start their first game of the T20 World Cup on Sunday when they face Pakistan in Mirpur. They have never won the competition since the start of the first edition in 2007. George Bailey would be hoping to be the first Australian captain to lift the trophy this year.

Pakistan failed to win the first T20 clash against their arch-rivals India. M S Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mohammad Hafeez's men were unable to get a good start as opener Kamran Akmal was sent back to the pavilion early in the innings for just eight runs.

Pakistan top order batsmen failed to fire and were unsuccessful in improving the run rate. They managed 130 runs for the loss of seven wickets from their 20 overs with the help of Sohaib Maqsood's 21 from 11 deliveries.

The defeat leaves Pakistan with no point and another loss against Australia on Sunday is likely to dent their hopes of winning the T20 World Cup. Hafeez is aware that his men need to improve their fielding in order to seal a victory against Bailey's side.

Australia, on the other hand, with a strong squad will be looking to start the competition on a positive note with a win against Pakistan.
