The Hulk
Mark Ruffalo starred as Bruce Banner and The Hulk in The Avengers Marvel Studios

Looks like post Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Hulk might be getting another solo movie.

According to Latino Review, actor Lou Ferrigno, who is famous for playing The Hulk in the 1980s TV series and voicing the role in subsequent animated and CGI versions, told a local radio station in Minnesota that Marvel is indeed planning another solo film.

After talking about how actor Mark Ruffalo's Hulk was the "star of the movie" in the first Avengers, the actor said, "Now because he saved the day they're making another solo Hulk movie after the second Avengers comes out."

Hulk getting a solo film only seems fair as the other primary members of The Avengers – Iron Man, Captain America and Thor -- have had solo blockbuster movies.

Nevertheless, before Marvel Studios hit big time, they had released director Ang Lee's much-maligned Hulk movie, starring Eric Bana. The film was a huge failure.

The studio then rebooted the superhero film with The Incredible Hulk in 2008. The Hulk/ Bruce Banner was played by Edward Nortan this time and the film was a success.

Rumours had surfaced earlier that Marvel was planning another Hulk movie based on the comic book storyline, Planet Hulk, as part of its 'Phase 3' plans to connect Avengers 2 with a yet-to-be-announced Avengers 3.

Now with Ferrigno's latest statement, perhaps it is not wrong to assume that Planet Hulk may be in the works.

Planet Hulk Storyline

Hulk gets banished from Earth, by fellow Marvel heroes, for being an extremely dangerous and destructive force. The green monster gets catapulted into space and he crashes on to an alien planet where he is enslaved, becomes a gladiator, and then eventually, a hero.

Hulk then returns to Earth to take revenge on those who sent him away -- which could possibly form one of the plotlines for Avengers 3.

However, it remains to be seen how the Marvel universe unfolds on the big screen over the next few years.
