Barcelona reportedly snubbed Liverpool in favour of Arsenal despite the Reds offering more money to sign Alexis Sanchez during the summer transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail, the Catalan club took a hit of around £3m by sanctioning the Chilean international's move to north London rather than Anfield.

The report claims that the former Barcelona player was keen to move to the Emirates Stadium rather than Liverpool and Barcelona heeded the player's wishes despite the difference in offers from the two interested clubs.

Sanchez has hit the ground running in the Premier League since his reported £30m move to Arsenal and has already shown his class in the nine games he has played in the league. The Chilean has scored seven goals and provided two assists to become an instant fan favourite.

The 25-year-old forward has settled in well with his new club and already received glowing praise from the manager and his fellow teammates following his impressive performances.

The Chilean had been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and reports suggested that he was part of the move that was to take Luis Suarez to Barcelona. However, the Uruguayan did move to Spain but the Chilean chose to move to Arsenal rather than the Reds.

Meanwhile, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, who had aired his disappointment at Sanchez choosing the Gunners over the Anfield outfit, has added to his comments and feels his former club should have gone all out to replace Suarez with the Chilean forward.

The former Reds defender believes that the former Udinese star has all the qualities to become a star in the Premier League.

"I'm disappointed he's not at Liverpool. He's looking like he's going to be a star of the Premier League," Carragher said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
