Even though Lex Luthor will be the main villain in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, rumours suggesting that popular DC villain Doomsday will also feature in the film refuse to die down.

A new report by Bleeding Cool hints towards the inclusion of Doomsday (the deadly villain who killed Superman) in the upcoming superhero film.

"Bleeding Cool sources who have been rather reliable in the past have told us that they have seen Batman V Superman designs for the character of Doomsday," states the report.

The report also tries to speculate on what these character designs could possibly mean.

"Now, of course, much can change in the production process. This may be used purely for flashback purposes on the screen, looking at the life (and death) of Superman. It may be purely for promotional efforts to accompany the film. Or it may not make it to the final cut."

Although there has been no official word regarding Doomsday's character possibly appearing in the film, it doesn't sound like a bad idea after all. With superheroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Cyborg already in the film, having a mere mortal like Lex Luthor go up against them might not be enough.

There's also a strong chance that Doomsday might just have a small cameo in the film with a more central role in the subsequent Justice League movie – something similar to what Marvel did when they introduced Thanos during the end-credits scene.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theatres on 6 May, 2016.
