Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice director Zack Snyder is a self-confessed Batman fan and so, it is a bit hard to understand why he would not want to direct the solo Batman film featuring Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight.

Of course his commitment now towards building the larger DC Extended Universe will keep him pretty busy...but the director could surely have worked out the line-up in a way that could have allowed him to shoot the solo Bat film. Well, here's why he didn't:

"If it was a Batman movie it would be a much more difficult proposition because of how good Chris' [Chris Nolan] movies are. We live in gratitude to those movies. Chris set a tone for the DC Universe, and separated us from Marvel in a great way. We are the legacy of those movies," Snyder told Empire Magazine. (via ComicBookMovie)

Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy did a fantastic job of rebooting the Batman franchise and reviving it from the dead, post the campy flop - Batman & Robin. So it makes sense that Snyder doesn't want to mess with that too much.

However, it puts all the more pressure on writer Geoff Johns (who is developing the screenplay) and director Ben Affleck, to deliver an exceptionally good Batman film.

The untitled Batman film is expected to release in November 2018.
