Bayer Leverkusen take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League clash at BayArena, on 18 October, Tuesday.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is at 7:45pm BST. Live coverage of the match is on BT Sport 2. Radio commentary of the game is available on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Overview

Bayer Leverkusen enter the fixture after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Werder Bremen in their last league fixture away from home. Hakan Calhanoglu was on the scoresheet for his side in the first half, which helped Bayer equalised before the break.

However, Ousman Manneh's second half performance was sufficient for Bremen to seal three points. Roger Schmidt will be disappointed after his side's last defeat and will be looking to bounce back when the Bundesliga side face the north London club on Tuesday.

So far, Bayer have managed two draws in the first two Champions League fixtures, which came against CSKA Moscow and AS Monaco. They will be looking to avoid a third straight draw when they host the Premier League club in the next match.

Tottenham, on the other hand, settled for a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns in the previous tie. Dele Alli's late strike made sure the White Hart Lane outfit maintained their unbeaten streak in England's top flight club competition.

After suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of AS Monaco in the Champions League, Maurico Pochettino saw his side bounce back in the second fixture against Moscow. Heung-Min Son scored the only goal of the match against Moscow to give Tottenham their only win in the European competition this season.

What managers say

Roger Schmidt: "I saw a very good football match, and a very good Tottenham team. They dominated the match because when City tried to develop the match from the defensive to the offensive, Tottenham played very well against the ball. They won the ball very early and City made a lot of mistakes. Playing against the ball they had control of the match."

Mauricio Pochettino: "It's important. We must win. If we want to go to the next round this is key to take three points from this game and to play at Wembley the same way. The next two games against Leverkusen for us hold the key to the possibility of going to the next round."
