Besiktas have rejected a £9m bid from Tottenham Hotspur for former Chelsea winger Gokhan Tore, according to the Turkish club's vice-president, Ahmet Nur Çebi.

Earlier in January, manager Mauricio Pochettino refused to rule out the possibility of making any signings or sanction any departures before the end of the current transfer window amid reports claiming Aaron Lennon was likely to leave White Hart Lane.

He said: "There are a lot of rumours with players linked with us, moving out and moving in. I think that our focus must be on tomorrow and after this game, we'll have time to speak about different movements."

And, according to the Besiktas vice-president, Pochettino appears to be planning for life without the English winger as has tried to sign another player with his profile, in Tore.

Nur Çebi assured Turkish newspaper Aksam that Besiktas have rejected a £9m bid from Spurs for the 23-year-old as they want to keep all their stars in their ranks until the end of the season to give the club the best possible chance to qualify for next season's Champions League.

"Three years ago we were in a position where we had a €20-40m deficit on our budget. Since then, we have managed to solve our budget issues completely. We are no longer in a position where we have to sell our players," Nur Çebi told Aksam.

"We currently have a policy where we're not willing to let any players go until the summer because of our improved financial situation."

Meanwhile, the Besiktas vice-president also said they have rejected offers from Aston Villa and Hull City for striker Demba Ba.

Chelsea signed Tore from Bayer Leverkusen in 2009 as one of ex-sporting director Frank Arnesen's prospect for the future but the winger failed to break through into the Blues' first team.

After two unsuccessful spells at Hamburg and Rubin Kazan, the Turkey international is finally proving his worth at Besiktas.

He has scored six goals and provided six assists during this campaign, and appeared to impress Pochettino during Spurs duels with the Turkish side in the Europa League earlier this season.
