First it was Kanye West, and now fellow hip hop star Missy Elliott has landed a landed a choice festival slot in the UK.

The Get Yr Freak On hitmaker has been announced as the headline act for Bestival 2015.

She joins an impressive line-up, which includes The Chemical Brothers, Duran Duran, Mark Ronson and Future Islands

"I'm very excited to be performing at Bestival this year! I can't wait to see all my fans I haven't seen in some time ... new ones and my day one fans!" she said.

"We are gonna have a blast together! Bring your dancing outfits and kicks!"

The gig will mark the 43 year old's first UK show in nine years.

Bestival organiser Rob da Bank described the star as "hip-hop royalty" and said that fans could expect a great show when she takes to the stage in September.

"I'm mighty proud to announce our Sunday headliner Missy Elliott. Needing no introduction, Missy is the epitome of hip-hop royalty, the first lady of party-starting club bangers and a downright legend," he said.

"I cannot wait to watch the most successful female rap artist ever to Work It at Bestival 2015!"

Bestival, which is one of the UK's fastest growing music festivals, take place 10-13 September 2015.
