Amid much speculation, the names of Beyonce and Jay-Z's twins - a son and a daughter - were finally revealed to be Rumi and Sir. While the music couple is still remaining tight-lipped about their babies, the latest additions to the Carter family is already causing a social media frenzy, especially with their unique names.

The uncommon baby names became public knowledge after the music stars' company filed official paperwork to trademark the names on 26 June, as per the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Apparently, the proud parents want to use the copyright for everything from baby gear to strollers and fragrances.

Now, Beyhive, which is forever buzzing with every movement of their Queen B, seems to have taken it upon themselves to decipher the twins' names.

From hilarious to outrageous, fan reactions to the baby names are wide-ranging, with someone even joking that Beyonce left subtle hints on her 2016 album, Lemonade.

"Rumi and Sir Carter! Of course!" a journalist shared along with a screen-grab of the popstar's Lemonade song list. "Queen Beyonce gave us every sign possible, and we ignored them."

While popular opinion is that the babies are named after famous Persian poet - Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī - and hip-hop artist Sir the Baptist, fans so far had a mixed review of the monikers. Some even suggested a change, while others rotted for the next generation.

"Imagine JayZ & Beyonce saying to one of their twin, 'Come here Sir'. That's so awkward. Sir is the name of one, Rumi the other," one critic shared on Twitter.

"Arise Sir Carter!! I don't know weather to Laugh at Beyonce & Jay-Z's choice of Name for Newborn Twin Son, or Shake My Head in Absurdity," another fan, who disapproved the moniker tweeted.

Meanwhile, some social media users rushed to their music idol's defense suggesting that it's up to the couple to name their children. "A lot of people saying Beyoncé twin names are dumb well no one told you that you have to name your kids that let her be," shared a fan with rolling eyes emojis.

Since the baby news broke on 16 June, Beyonce and Jay-Z have been showered with love from all quarters. Fellow rapper Diddy - who is the father of 10-year-old twin daughters D'Lila Star and Jessie James - even shared some pearls on wisdom on parenting the twins.

"You are used to getting love from one child, but when you get this incredible love from two kids, and they're twins, it is truly a blessing," he said.

Aside from the newborn twins, Beyonce and Jay-Z are also parents to five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.
