Destiny's Child have reunited – sadly not on-stage but for the 'mannequin challenge'. Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams have attempted the latest craze to sweep social media but it has fuelled rumours that the Survivor hitmakers will reform.

In a video clip shared on Instagram, a frozen Rowland, 35, swings a balloon while Beyonce, 35, catches a ball from Williams, 36, mid-motion. The mannequin challenge sees the participants freeze-frame their activities and pose like mannequins and it has taken the Internet by storm similar to the Harlem shake or ice bucket challenge.

It is believed the former girl group attempted the mannequin challenge at the recent birthday party of Rowland's son Titan, who turned two on 4 November. Fans are now running wild with the rumour that Destiny's Child are preparing to make a comeback ahead of their 20th anniversary in 2017.

An official Instagram account for the best-selling girl group opened in October and is being managed by their record label Sony Music Entertainment.

So far, the account has shared throwback photos of the trio from their heyday while remembering pivotal moments in their career such as their first gold-certified single and the release of their iconic single Say My Name in 1999.

Destiny's Child will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their first single No No No featuring Wyclef Jean, which was released on 11 November 1997. The track propelled the group to mainstream prominence and reached number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group, then consisting of Beyonce, Rowland and original members LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett, released their iconic debut album Writing's On The Wall in 1998.

With Beyonce's solo career taking off, Destiny's Child released their final album Destiny Fulfilled and embarked on a tour in 2004 before disbanding. The singers have shared the stage together only a handful of times since, most notably during Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show in 2013 and at the Stellar Awards in 2015.

Addressing the prospect of a reunion, Rowland told E! News in October: "We haven't even talked anything about that. We've just been enjoying each other's company and love and enjoying being women."

The mannequin challenge has attracted attention from various celebrities with comedian Kevin Hart making an impressive attempt at the gym and singer Adele roping in her crew backstage on her 25 tour.
