A man is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today charged with the murder of a 28-year-old man in Sparkbrook, Birmingham.

Naweed Bashardost, 22, of Alum Rock, Birmingham, is accused of the murder of 28-year-old Ikram Ullah Khan, known locally as Ikram Elahi.

The victim died from a stab wound to the neck following an outbreak of violence on Grantham Road and Farm Road on 2 July.

Unemployed Bashardost was charged with murder by detectives last night following his arrest in connection with the street brawl.

Eleven men in total have been arrested following Khan's death.

A 23-year-old man remains in custody after he was arrested on suspicion his murder.

Eight men arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder have subsequently been released on bail with strict conditions that they are not to enter the city of Birmingham.

Another man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in hospital after being injured in the riot.
