He impressed the X Factor judges with his stand out vocals and his heartthrob image but it seems that singing is just one of Jake Quickenden's many talents.

Just days after reaching the Judges House section of the TV talent show, the 23-year-old lifeguard from Scunthorpe has been signed by Northern Premier League side Frickley Athletic FC.

Quickenden, who plays up front or on the wing, celebrated moving up the football ladder by performing some songs for his new team-mates during training.

Manager Karl Rose has confirmed that he could make his debut in Saturday's FA Carlsberg Trophy tie against North Ferriby United.

"My main interests have always been football and singing," Quickenden told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"I don't know why I didn't study music at school because I have always been interested in music.

"I was never in a band but used to always sing around the house and drive my mum mad.

"I taught myself how to play the guitar about a year ago and started writing my own songs about the same time.

"Music is my passion and something I really want to focus on now."

Quickenden will now join fellow boys James Arthju, Jahmene Douglas ,Nathan Fagan Gayle, Rylan Clarke and Adam Burridge at Nicole Scherzinger's judges house in Dubai.
