Brad Pitt reportedly broke down when he met his six children for the first time since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce on 19 September. HollywoodLife, citing InTouch magazine, reported that their 90-minute reunion was an emotional one, conducted in the presence of DCFS (Department of Children Family Services) personnel.

The reunion reportedly saw the Allied actor and the children play, draw pictures and have conversations. "It was a very emotional meeting," a source said.

"Once the kids came in, [Brad Pitt] lit up. He had tears in his eyes and tried to hold it together because he didn't want them to get upset because he was crying. The visit was gut-wrenching: Vivienne, 8, and Zahara, 11, both started crying, asking when they could go home [to Brad's compound in LA's Los Feliz neighbourhood]."

The 52-year-old actor is also said to have told his children that they could soon visit him at his home. Pitt told the children that "the situation with the social workers absolutely wasn't their fault and that no one was in trouble", the source added.

Earlier reports had claimed that the former couple were negotiating the terms of their divorce settlement privately. It was reported that the two had struck a temporary deal, wherein the actress got sole physical custody of their children — Maddox (15), Zahara (11), Pax (12), Shiloh (10), and twins Knox and Vivienne (8) — while Pitt had been allowed to visit them under supervision.

The duo got married in August 2014 after meeting on the set of their 2005 film Mr & Mrs Smith.
