British cyclist Bradley Wiggins is in hospital after being knocked off his bike. Wiggins, who had the most successful summer of his life when he won this year's Tour de France and Gold at the London Olympics, was hit by white Vauxhall Astra Envoy outside a petrol station near his home in Eccleston, Lancashire.

Sources say the 32 year old has suffered broken ribs, as well as a number of cuts and bruises. Wiggins often trains on the rural where he lives with his wife and two children.

Team Sky, the British cycling outfit Wiggins currently cycles for, have stated that "The injuries he has sustained are not thought to be serious and he's expected to make a full and speedy recovery."
