Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that his struggling Reds side cannot even entertain the notion of being Premier League contenders this year, stating that Chelsea and Manchester City were the two sides best equipped for a title challenge.

Liverpool suffered their third defeat of the season when they lost 3-1 to West Ham at Upton Park on Saturday, and Rodgers said that whilst the sky was the limit on the club's ambition, his side needs to become more consistent if they are to equal their second-place finish in the 2013/14 campaign.
