Liverpool travel to Burnley in a must-win clash for the Merseyside club. Failing to win can have a major impact on their chances to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Where to Watch

Kick-off is set for 3pm GMT. Highlights of the game will be available on BBC Match of the Day on BBC One at 11pm GMT.

Overview

The Reds need a win to close the gap on Arsenal, who are currently five points ahead having drawn at Anfield last Sunday. Both teams have been in dismal form thus far and the fixtures in the Christmas period can decide the state of affairs at the end of the season.

Brendan Rodgers' men have been anything but clinical this season, especially with the absence of Luis Suarez and the injury to Daniel Sturridge. However, the Northern Irishman changed his tactics against Arsenal to bring back memories of the past year, where he fielded seven midfielders to throttle the Gunners' passing game and thereby dominate the proceedings.

However, they found themselves in the wrong end of a goal from Olivier Giroud in one decent move for the Gunners through some dreadful defending. Martin Skrtel saved the day for the home side, scoring a towering header in injury time as the north London club returned the favour with some tumultuous defending of their own.

Meanwhile, Burnley come into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. However, Sean Dyche will be uplifted by the level of performance they have produced over the past few weeks and will be confident that they can turn the tide in the coming days, maybe starting today.
