Denise Huskins, feared kidnapped Handout

A California woman believed to have been kidnapped may be being held for ransom, police said.

Denise Huskins, 30, was taken against her will from a house in Kirkland Avenue, San Francisco, in the early hours of Monday morning, police said, reports the New York Daily News.

Her car, a white Toyota Camry, was also taken and was found several hours later at an undisclosed location.

Huskins's cousin, Amy Mattison, told KCBS Los Angeles the address was the home of Huskins's boyfriend and that she did not recognise the car.

Huskins is a physical therapist at Kaiser Vallejo Hospital, according to her Facebook page.

Vallejo police, in a joint investigation with the FBI, have asked anyone with information to call on (707) 648-4524.
