Call of Duty Advanced Warfare
A screen from the Zombie mode trailer Activision

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be receiving a zombie horde mode as part of its DLC plans.

Exo Zombies, which will put the undead in exoskeleton suits and grant them the ability to double jump, will be spread over all four pieces of planned DLC, starting with Park 1, Havoc, in January.

Further chapters of the Exo Zombies mode will be released with the Ascendance, Supremacy and Reckoning DLC packs throughout next year.

Around the time of the game's release it was reported that the Zombies mode would be made available through the game's season pass. It was implied that the mode would only be available to season pass holders – who pre-purchase all DLC at a discounted price – but as it turns out the mode will be released as normal.

A glimmer of the zombies mode can be unlocked through the retail game's Exo Survival co-op mode as a bonus round, but requires each of the mode's maps to be unlocked first.

Advanced Warfare represents a fresh start for Activision's Call of Duty series and has so far done fantastically well. Sales of the retail game and season pass are up over last year's Call of Duty: Ghosts, and sales helped the series as a whole pass $10bn (£6.4bn) globally since it all started in 2003.
