DJ Calvin Harris was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles on 19 May, which left him badly injured and sent to hospital. According to TMZ, Harris was a passenger in a Cadillac SUV at around 11pm when a VW Bug Convertible filled with teenagers crossed the centre line, crashing into his vehicle.
The accident was so vicious that one of the passengers from the VW Bug Convertible, who was sitting on her boyfriend's lap, was ejected out of the car. According to TMZ, paramedics took Harris to an LA hospital to be treated for a laceration on his face. Despite the cut requiring immediate attention, the Scottish DJ asked for a private room. When they said one was not available he jumped off the hospital bed and left "against medical advice".
According to TMZ, the 16-year-old who was driving the car and the passenger who was thrown out of the vehicle were also taken to hospital. The teen who was ejected from the car suffered a broken pelvis.
The 32-year-old DJ, who is dating Taylor Swift, has now pulled out of an appearance at the Hangout festival in Alabama. The DJ has already been forced to pull out of a performance at the Omnia nightclub in Las Vegas, as doctors suggested that he took a few days off to recover.
A spokeswoman for Harris said on Saturday night: "Adam was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck in a serious collision last night in Los Angeles. He was examined by doctors and sustained a number of injuries.
"He has since been checked out of hospital and is now recovering. We wish all the other passengers involved in the incident a fast recovery. As a result, he was not able to perform in Las Vegas at his Omnia residency and will be unable to perform tonight at Hangout festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama."
