Calvin Harris has spoken out for the first time since he was injured in a car accident on 21 May. The How Deep Is Your Love producer thanked his fans for their support, not long after he cancelled more shows on his Las Vegas residency in order to recover.

The 32-year-old producer, real name Adam Richard Wiles, received facial injuries when a VW Beetle being driven by a 16-year-old crashed into his Cadillac SUV in Inglewood, California. Posting on his Twitter account for the first time since the accident, Harris told his followers: "Thank you so much for your messages and sorry to any disappointment I caused with the show cancellations. I'm feeling lucky and very grateful rn [right now]."

Before his message to fans, a member of Harris' management informed fans that the DJ would no longer perform two upcoming shows on his Vegas residency. The Facebook post read on behalf of Harris: "Adam is still recovering from the injuries sustained in the car accident last Friday.

"Unfortunately, as a result he will not be able to perform in Las Vegas at Hakkasan tonight, 5/26 and Omnia tomorrow, 5/27. He has asked us to pass on his apologies to everyone who was due to attend the shows and hopes to be back to his normal schedule soon." The latest cancellations come after the Blame hitmaker pulled out a performance at Omnia nightclub on 20 May and Alabama's Hangout Festival, on the night of the accident.

It is believed pop star Taylor Swift, who is dating Harris, has been nursing the music producer back to health – which explains her noticeable absence from the Billboard Music Awards on 22 May. Shortly after the accident, a source told HollywoodLife: "Taylor was very scared when she got a call from Calvin saying he had been in a terrible accident. Her first reaction was to ask if he needed her to be with him, but Calvin told her everything was ok and he was just a little shaken up."

Although he has taken a step back to recover, Harris is still enjoying chart success with his latest single This Is What You Came For (featuring Rihanna) riding high at number three on the UK chart. Harris is believed to be working on his fifth album which will follow-up his 2014 LP Motion.
